Performs firefighting, emergency medical services, and fire prevention duties, including operating equipment at the fire or medical scene, extinguishing fires, and saving lives and property. This is a seasonal position from June 24, 2025 through October 31, 2025.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Drives fire apparatus to the scene of emergency (if certified), deploys hose, and operates pump and firefighting equipment until extinguishment of fire. Performs emergency medical care and services to licensed EMT provider level; transports patients to enhanced medical care. Assists with any other work as might be indicated by the type of emergency or as directed.
- Assists in fire extinguishment depending on conditions and if so directed.
- Cleans fire station and grounds, cleans and services all fire equipment as assigned.
- Maintains apparatus in a constant state of readiness, makes daily inspections and performs necessary maintenance and repair. Maintains records and submits reports as may be required. Participates in fire drills and attends classes in fire and medical techniques.
- Performs housekeeping and maintenance duties at the station as assigned. Inspects hydrants, clearing weeds and brush; paints and marks hydrant locations.
- Removes people from danger, performs emergency life support functions as a qualified EMS provider.
- Assists in instruction of firefighter(s) in efficient and modern practices and principles of fire fighting and rescue work.
- Performs fire prevention inspections as assigned.
- Attends schools and classes to learn advanced principles and techniques in use and operation of fire service apparatus, fire techniques and medical emergency skills.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
- Performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues that contain blood borne pathogens.
- Must possess the ability to act promptly and use good judgment in emergencies and deal tactfully with the public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
General qualifications include:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED
- Have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record
- Must have ICS200 and ICS700 certification
Minimum qualifications:
- Must possess DPSST Firefighter I certification
- Must possess DPSST Firefighter Type II certification
Preferred qualifications:
- Oregon State EMT License (EMR or Higher)
- DPSST Apparatus Operator/Pumper certification
- DPSST Firefighter II certification
- DPSST Firefighter Type I
