Loveland Fire Rescue Authority (LFRA) is recruiting firefighters for the Fall 2025 Front Range Fire Consortium Academy (FRFC) and to create an eligibility list for the Spring 2026 FRFC Academy. Candidates will be invited to apply based on their NTN FireTEAM scores.

Please carefully read the minimum qualifications and submit your FireTEAM and Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA) Part 1 by May 5, 2025.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • NTN FireTEAM and Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA) Part 1 (by May 5, 2025)
    • FireTEAM and PSSA scores are valid for up to one year. If you took your test prior to LFRA opening the hiring process, please log into your NTN candidate account and add LFRA to permit us to view your scores for both the FireTEAM test and PSSA Part 1 no later than May 5, 2025.
    • You can access PSSA Part 1 through your candidate account. NTN suggests completing this as soon as possible so there is not a delay in your process.
  • Must possess at time of job application (by May 21, 2025):
    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Valid Driver’s license with a safe driving record
    • Current CPAT certificate
    • NIMS ICS 100/200/700/800
    • Current CPR-Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Provider or equivalent
    • Current State of Colorado EMT-B
      • OR current NREMT at time of application AND State of Colorado EMT-B within 3 months of hire date
    • Ability to successfully complete the Front Range Fire Consortium (FRFC) Academy and pass the Academy test within six (6) months of hire.

Salary Information:

  • Firefighter Step 1: $74,426 annually/$35.78 hourly during the academy 40-hour work week ($25.56 hourly once on shift 48/96 schedule)

Department Overview:

Loveland is located 46 miles north of Denver, Colorado, and is just a short drive from Rocky Mountain National Park. Known for being the “Gateway to the Rockies,” Loveland boasts over 300 days of sunshine per year and low humidity. This pleasant weather and proximity lends itself to many outdoor activities.

Operating 10 fire stations, LFRA's 100+ members serve a response area that spans just over 187 square miles and serves a permanent population of just over 107,000 residents. We are a progressive fire department on the leading edge of fire dynamics and fire suppression tactics, providing an all hazards response in addition to traditional firefighting and basic life support.

New hires will attend the Front Range Fire Consortium Academy along with LFRA orientation and post-academy – during this time new hires will be on a 40-hour work week for an estimated 18 weeks. After post-academy, employees are assigned to a 48/96 shift schedule. Once on shift, firefighters will receive paid time off annually to include: 124 hours floating holiday leave, 112 medical leave hours and 112.50 vacation leave hours (4.3270 hours accrued each pay cycle).

NTN FireTEAM and Public Safety Self Assessment (PSSA) Part 1 testing must be complete by May 5, 2025. Based on FireTEAM test/PSSA Part 1 scores, LFRA will invite a number of candidates to complete a job application.
